Middle Years

APIS is a candidate* school for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy — a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that American Pacific International School believes is important for our students.

The Middle Years programme at APIS is for Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10. APIS was granted candidate status as an IB MYP school in 2015, with the programme now running through the Middle Years. We had a successful consultation visit in August 2017 and our accreditation visit is scheduled for February 2018.

The MYP was identified by APIS as an excellent means to build on the foundations laid in the Primary Years Programme, that has been established at APIS and APISP since 2011-12, offering a smooth transition for students into Secondary School. The programme empowers students to take responsibility for their own learning experiences, in a collaborative environment that encourages personal creativity and intellectual curiosity, set against a high-quality, rigorous curriculum that develops knowledge, skills, attitudes and understanding.

The Middle Years Programme culminates with a personal project in Grade 10, which is a product of their own initiative and an expression of their learning and experience over the years.

For further information about APIS’s road to authorisation, the programme itself or any other curriculum based questions please contact our MYP Coordinator, Jon Denton, at jonathan.d@apis.ac.th. APIS also holds workshops on the programme during the course of the year. More information on these will be given by the school administration.
