Our Story

American Pacific International School (APIS) was created by Kritsanant Palarit and opened for its first academic year in August 1997.  Kritsanant’s founding vision was to provide the same opportunities and advantages of a western-style education and boarding program (in a Thai setting), that prepares all students for university level studies.

APIS aims to provide a quality education program for students in Pre Nursery through Grade12, based on international education standards, delivered in English language through a constructivist approach.

The Main Campus (MC) was established in 1997, teaching students in Grades 7 -10 in a remote setting with both boarding and day school options.  This campus has seen many changes over the years, including: growth in grade levels to include Grades 1 - 12, the introduction of the International Baccaluareate Primary Years and Middle Years Programme and the application to become a Diploma Programme school in 2019.

In 2000, APIS opened a Kindergarten campus in Chiangmai.  This kindergarten campus provided the same  mission driven education for our youngest students in Nursery through Kindergarten 3.  In 2009, both campuses adopted the IBO Primary Years Program as a framework for curriculum delivery.  In 2014, due to the growth of the Kindergarten campus, a new purpose built facility was created and now serves students from Pre Nursery (PN) through Grade 6.  The new campus is referred to as American Pacific International School Primary (APISP) or shortened as Primary Campus (PC).

Today, APIS and APISP host over 400 students across both campuses, PN - Gr. 12; with more than 20 nationalities representing our diverse student population.  The school continues to remain as a mission driven school, focused on internationally minded, happy, life-long learners.
